 Had my day in court...
... last Friday down in Buckingham County.
After my little tip-over in October the Trooper decided I needed a ticket for "reckless driving". Got to court about 9am. I was going to give the judge my concocted story about that deer, but seeing as I'm a terrible liar - thanks to my fair skinned Irish heritage - and seeing that the judge was pretty lenient with the guilty-pleaders and not so much with the "innocent", I decided to play it straight and take my chances.
At about 1pm the judge finally said they were wrapping up Traffic cases and about to start on Civil, and was there anyone that hadn't been called. Yep, me.
Anyway, the Trooper wasn't there so he would have to re-schedule my case, or I could plead to "improper driving", or do 15 hours community service and he'd reduce it to "defective equipment", $50 fine and "no points". Well, sounded a bit kangaroo court, but I was just hoping to avoid a reckless conviction, so that was good with me. Anybody here run a 501c3 charity?

I can hook you up with my friends at March of Dimes and/or Easter Seals. You might get lucky and work with 2053cc on the Easter Seals "Ride With Me" fundraiser. I would suggest Special Olympics but you'll get mistaken for a "participant" and they'll constantly be telling you to get back in line and just wait your turn.

Buckingham is normally willing to work with you. I got a reckless ticket there one time. I couldn't be at the court date because I was at Tech at the time so I wrote a letter to the court and did driving school prior to the court date and they dismissed it.

I asked for driving school but the judge said "No" - based on my record. (I'm +2 points right now, but that dang 83-in-a-55 reckless from '05 stays on the books until 2016.)

 501C3?
I happen to be a member of such an organization with several frequently used toilets that could use a good scrubbing. But its a long drive so that would probably sink that idea.
Glad to hear you lucked out!

You're all too kind. But also too late. Did my 15 hours at Goodwill. I was having such a good time the last day I checked the clock and I had worked 1-1/2 hours extra. Now that's community service!
